Motel appurtenances

Things have gotten busy of late, and the band is preparing to go out on a 10 day tour, so I’ve been lax with my daily photo stops. Excuses, excuses…. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I scored a copy of Lightroom 3 from B&H for $69! Great deal, but it was back ordered so while I’m waiting for it to arrive I’ve been looking through my messy photo collection planning a much needed organizational attack. Tonight I ran across this image and pulled it out of the stack–probably because the motel room kitchenette seems so tidy.

Neighbors lights at night

Neighbors. In my immediate vicinity, both of the two closest ones like strong, harsh night lighting and more often than not forget to turn them off. Drives me crazy because I like going out into my yard at night to look at the sky. Alas. So I got creative with it last night. And… It’s now 5:30 PM the next day and these lights are still on–they’ve been on all day. Happens all the time. And, yes, I’ve asked.

Woman on my desktop

Here’s a frame of my home desk to the left of my monitor. That’s my wife, Maggie, in the photos. The bigger image was part of the 2011 Accordion Babes calendar. The beer bottles are all from the local Lagunitas Brewery–I like their occasional “theme” labels, and I love their beer.

Garden fish

Early this afternoon, I spotted this very rare garden fish just outside our bedroom’s sliding glass door. Fortunately, I had my T2i with the Nifty Fifty mounted and ready as there was precious little time to get a good shot before it swam off. Guess I got lucky.

Fisherman in red

I’ve been uninspired to stop and take photos during my commute for a few months now. I blame it on this winter’s weird weather, but perhaps the discipline of taking commute shots almost daily for the past year and a half has run its course. Maybe it’s time to look beyond the well worn path for inspiration. In the meantime, here’s a shot I took about this time last year during a stop at Fort Baker.
