A view from underneath

The traffic through the city wasn’t too bad today so I pulled off a few miles after crossing the Golden Gate at the Mill Valley exit and did a few minutes of exploring. I found this view of Mt. Tamalpais looking north under the overpass on the Mill Valley-Sausalito Path. The cyclist probably sees it all the time in all different conditions, but this is what it looked like today.

Bright afternoon heading west

Yesterday, we had a band rehearsal in Berkeley. Here’s a shot I took from the passenger seat while crossing the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on our way home in the late afternoon. The sunlight was obviously very intense, over-exposing the bay, but the image captures the feel of the moment. For people not familiar with the Bay Area, the tall mountain is Mt. Tamalpais and the small peninsula at the center of the image is San Quentin prison.

Commute redux

It’s been a while since I grabbed some commute photos. Today the rain subsided so I scooted off the freeway at the Mill Valley turnoff to grab some shots. Also, I’m demoing Nik Silver Effects Pro–hence more black and white. First impression… it’s the shite! Great PS plugin! No doubt I’ll pay the price of admission because it’s much more robust than the built in Photoshop black and white filter.

Not just off the ferry

Today during the commute home I pulled off on Sir Francis Drake Blvd and ran into Sir Francis Drake. Apparently the statue has been there since 1990, but this was the first time I noticed it. Cameras force one to look!

Basically a body turn westward and there’s Mt Tamalpais, and closer, the Larkspur Ferry terminal (if only the ferry went close to my work).
