We spent Christmas day out at the beach on the Sonoma County coast playing music and making merry with friends. While out for a walk during break in the rain I grabbed this shot.

Out in the hills near my house the number 1000 is clearly printed on a mailbox at the head of a graded drive. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I’m currently in transition, and the road beckons. The question is, should I go east or should I stay in the west? Heading north is inevitable.
(This is very Sonoma County. Mount Saint Helena is in the backgound.)

I took a drive out into the local countryside late yesterday afternoon. The fog was just beginning to roll in, and at the top of a hill along one of my favorite loops there was a nice light hitting the hillsides.
Lens: Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L at 24mm. 1/320 second at f/7.1, ISO 125.

I took this shot back in April. It’s a view of what I see every day during the last leg of my commute home. The grass will grow longer and turn brown by June, and the deciduous oaks will fill in and darken, but this is the mise en scène of southern Sonoma County.
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm at 31mm. 1/100 second at f/11, ISO 100.
