Besides being a photographer, I'm also the guitarist with the rowdy folk fusion group, The Mad Maggies. I was programmer/web developer for Communication Arts magazine for 15 years before going rogue. I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Montréal, Québec in 2013. In 2023, I relocated to Penticton, BC -- better weather.

Palm trees of Petaluma

Even though this is a straight on shot, I’m not including it in the ongoing “straight on” series. Following the pattern, that series needs to be more intimate–more tightly framed. In my around town walking range, “intimate” straight on shots are hard to find. This image, on the other hand, satisfies a request from my wife Maggie. She suggested that I do a “palm trees of Petaluma” series. OK, Maggie, here’s the first.

Straight on green

I’ve been going out for long walks lately. One might think I was walking solely because I got a new camera. Nope. I’ve been a runner for 35 years and have, unfortunately, over the past year developed a nagging achilles heel injury. Walking doesn’t seem to irritate the heel, so I’m getting out and about around town on foot several times a week. Buying the small, lightweight EOS M was the motivational part of my therapy. So far so good. This image, taken yesterday afternoon, is the third in a growing series of straight on shots.
