In my last post I mentioned that I was on a 15 day “Reboot” juice fast. Today is day 11 and I’m going strong. At this point I’m actually considering extending it to 20 days–but if I do it’ll be one day at a time once I get beyond 15. One of the “side effects” of the juice fast is that the part of my brain that is the photographer has gotten lazy. Not sure why that is but I’m rolling with it and enjoying the break. Maybe my creative self is in reboot mode too. Whatever it is, it’s all good because I’m feeling GREAT. I have, however, been fiddling with old shots for possible posts. Here’s a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge I took on a very smoggy, hazy day. The best solution for the ugly brownish sky was converting to black and white.

I took a drive out into the local countryside late yesterday afternoon. The fog was just beginning to roll in, and at the top of a hill along one of my favorite loops there was a nice light hitting the hillsides.
Lens: Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L at 24mm. 1/320 second at f/7.1, ISO 125.

There’s a change in the weather! The wind came back to the Bay Area bringing the fog with it. Rain will follow. On my way home, I took advantage of the transition away from the smoggy doldrums and made a short stop at the view point at the northbound end of the Golden Gate Bridge. The fog was rolling in quickly, but I managed to grab some shots of the city before it got completely enveloped.

I’ve got two very busy weeks ahead of me–commute… work … commute…, plus several band gigs (like work, but more fun). Then I’m on vacation. Until then the blog posts will mostly be a grab bag of shots. This one is a grab from a recent bag.
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm. (Have I insinuated enough that this is a GREAT walk-around lens for a Canon APS-C camera!!)

The Bay Area was clear and warm most everywhere this afternoon except at the mouth of the Golden Gate. Because of the thick, low hanging fog, I figured there would be some moody shots to be had. First I drove through the Presidio on the south side of the bridge, but came up short because the fog was already pushing hard up the cliffs. On the north side the Fort Baker views were much better. The fog was curling nicely around the tower so for this shot I metered in favor of the sky.
