Besides being a photographer, I'm also the guitarist with the rowdy folk fusion group, The Mad Maggies. I was programmer/web developer for Communication Arts magazine for 15 years before going rogue. I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Montréal, Québec in 2013. In 2023, I relocated to Penticton, BC -- better weather.

Au revoir Québec City

Tomorrow in the early AM we hop the train for the long ride west. There’s no Wi-Fi for the majority of the five day trip so this is pretty much it until we reach Vancouver. I will miss eastern Canada, and especially Québec.

Today it was very rainy. It’s the first day we had to hole up because it was too wet to venture out. But hey, we wrote some email, ate some food, drank a few beers…

The view from the hotel window early this afternoon (FYI, the dull looking, silo-like building lights up spectacularly at night–the lighting the result of an international art project).

Toqued

19 days into the Canadian journey and we’re finally toqued–aka, ready for preserving our heads in freezing weather. Unfortunately, it’s not snowing here in Quebec City so we’ll probably only get to use the toque as a prop in the Mad Maggies shows. The kilt plus the toque? Pourquoi pas?

Mixed bag

We’re taking a chill day. The long legs on the train without the luxury of having a sleeper are taxing–doable, but it really makes one appreciate the supine position. Anyway, here’s a mixed bag of photos taken sometime during the past week.
