Besides being a photographer, I'm also the guitarist with the rowdy folk fusion group, The Mad Maggies. I was programmer/web developer for Communication Arts magazine for 15 years before going rogue. I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Montréal, Québec in 2013. In 2023, I relocated to Penticton, BC -- better weather.

Friday night on the bay

Not exactly commute photos, but after the Friday commute we had to “commute” to a gig at the Berkeley Yacht Club. We arrived just after the sun had set so I quickly grabbed the G11 and snapped a few shots. These are zoomed in views across the bay (as much as the G11 can zoom)–I cropped them panoramically because there was too much water and sky in the original frames.

After the show, I grabbed my tripod and got a few night shots. Since we were at a yacht club I figured I should focus on boats.

You looking at me?

I almost came up empty handed on the commute today. The traffic was frenetic so I chose to just go with the flow and get home safely. Unfortunately, it wasn’t flowing so good towards the end so I got off the freeway and took a back road for the last short leg. Coming around a bend I spooked several turkey vultures who were no doubt converging on a carcass. I didn’t see any road kill, but one of the vultures landed on a rock to pose for me. I stopped smack in the middle of the road and took a couple of quick shots from the car. This one was the best of the lot.
