Shots from my daily commute.
For months it’s either been fog in the city or cloudless, dry vistas during my long commute home. This image was taken today near the Novato dump. While I was looking for something to shoot (the dump was closed), I kept thinking, “The grass must be greener somewhere….”

I headed down to the beach along the Great Highway on the way home today. I got several shots I liked, but settled on this one:

Approaching mid September in Sonoma County, California. No clouds (other than fog), and no rain for months. The California Live Oak thrives during these long, dry summers. They are everywhere along the last 15 miles of my commute home. I tend to take them for granted, but when there’s nothing else presenting itself along the way, they’re almost always worth taking the time for a few shots.

Near the homestead is Steamer Landing Park. It’s a nice walking place that’s a mix of industrial, natural and railroad track environments. These shots are from the industrial edge. First, a weird, stubby boat (I shot this over the top of a chain link fence):

Today was the first day with clouds since late May–literally. There’s been LOTS of fog, but no billowy, cumulous beauty to add a little interest to the skies. So I shot scenes with clouds. This is a tidal pond on the east side of Bayfront Park, just across the road from where I work.
The ubiquitous Canadian geese seemed to be enjoying the clouds too–I saw five or six of these gaggles during the 10 minutes I spent in the park grabbing shots.
