During a recent performance/party thrown by friends I got momentarily distracted by an abstraction.

Last night Maggie and I joined some friends and fellow musicians for an Irish seisiún at the Aqus Cafe. Maggie brought her accordion, but I left my guitar at home and brought a camera instead. The space was relatively dark so I put on my 85mm f/1.8, cranked up the ISO and went for it. Here’s a shot of my friend Scott working his instrument.

Here’s a recent shot taken down by the waterfront not far from my house. I tweaked it to taste.

Out in the hills near my house the number 1000 is clearly printed on a mailbox at the head of a graded drive. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I took this shot of a guy playing pool after a gig at the Old Western Saloon in Point Reyes Station, CA. I was using the 85mm f/1.8 because the light in the bar was dim. Shallow depth of field was my game, solids was his. Unfortunately for him, he had no shot.
