I’ve got two very busy weeks ahead of me–commute… work … commute…, plus several band gigs (like work, but more fun). Then I’m on vacation. Until then the blog posts will mostly be a grab bag of shots. This one is a grab from a recent bag.

I love the California Live Oak. Each one is unique, adapting and shaping itself to its immediate environment over time. Kind of like people–though, in the modern world, I think this kind of “adapting” makes much more sense for a tree.

I’m enjoying an increasingly rare weekend off, so I dipped back into the archive for today’s post. I took this shot back in early June during a commute stop.

Note: I indicate the version of Nik SEP because version 2 does not run on my machine. Alas–though I’m still very happy with v1.

Everyday during the commute I pass through the Waldo Tunnel (aka the “Rainbow Tunnel” because of it’s south side paint job) before and after I cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Here’s a long shot of the tunnel from the turnout at the north end of the bridge. (I took a couple of experimental shots of the tunnel with my G11 about this time last year.)

Commuting sucks. Sometimes an alternate route might take a little longer, but it’ll be so much more pleasant. Today was one of those days. I was almost home when I ran into very sluggish highway traffic. Fortunately, it happened just before my last possible detour so I quickly got out of the jam. Halfway along the way, I turned up the road that goes towards my house and saw that the pigs are back–I say “back” because they had been moved away from the road after the last time I took photos of them. Of course, I had to stop.
