Fortunately for me, this killer was deep asleep when I noticed him. Feeling bold, I grabbed a shot, but moved away quickly for fear that he might awaken.

The only place for a garden around this funky old building is the little strip next to the sidewalk. This woman is making the most of the space, and the scene reminded me of a tableau.

Along our usual neighborhood walk there’s is a smallish yard (maybe 1/2 acre) that has goats, an alpaca and some Babydoll Southdown sheep. Though the wooliness gives the babydolls an interesting look, the mature sheep here are overly wooly and will no doubt be shorn soon.
Because of the hotspot in the unshaded area, I tweaked the contrast and “structure” of the image to pull detail out of the highlights. The result was an HDR look.

The band played the NorCal Pirate Festival in Vallejo on Sunday. It’s was a lot of fun–and way better than I had imagined it would be. Here are several shots I took while roaming the grounds between sets.
