Photos from our 10,000 train trip (10/16 – 11/15/2010) from the San Francisco Bay Area to Vancouver, British Columbia, than across Canada to Halifax, Nova Scotia and back.
Today was a beautiful, but chilly and windy day harbor side in Halifax. Early afternoon we took a long stroll along the long boardwalk. I snapped quite a few shots while being buffeted by the wind. Here’s a couple:

Backtracking to two contrasting views from the train ride between Vancouver and Toronto. (These photos were taken on a speeding, jostling train through rather dirty windows.)
This was the view of Mt. Robson (the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies).
And here’s a shot of the Saskatchewan landscape–flat in all directions for hundreds of miles. (Note: this shot was taken in the late afternoon while the train was rolling along at full speed. I used TV mode with the shutter set speed set to 1/640″ to “freeze” the foreground.)

I loved Quebec city! Before hopping the train to Halifax, we had another whole day to stroll around town–and it was sunny!
And in the evening, beers at the Hotel Belley Pub.

There are many narrow, stone building lined streets in Quebec City. Here’s a close and distant shot of Maggie donning the chartreuse cap–I saw similar views many times today because I was constantly stopping to take a photo.
