Dusty lovers
Here’s a Holga-esque impression of a little statuette we have in the house. I set the statuette against a black backdrop and kept it dusty because I liked the dust effect in yesterday’s shot.
Settings: 6.1mm (28mm equivalent), ISO 200, 1/60 second at f/4.0, flash compensation set to -1. Hand-held–like most of my shots.
Effects: B&W conversion, Nik Silver Efex (slightly tweaked “Holga” preset), blueish color cast added in Photoshop.

The man lamp
Rain rain rain–no stopping on the commute during the deluge. Once I got home I pulled out the G11 and started snapping shots in the house. This close-up shot of the man lamp in our living room was the best of the lot. I used manual controls with flash, compensation set at -1, on this one. Love the dusty detail.
Settings: 6.1mm (macro), 1/60 second at f/3.5, ISO 200.

Between storms
We’ve been getting hammered with rain here in the Bay Area–and, for the record, it’s quite late for such heavy deluges. But, being that it’s Spring, when it clears the big cloud views can be quite nice. This afternoon was no exception. This view is just up the road from my house.
Lens: 15-85mm at 15mm. 1/400 second at f/16, ISO 200.

Pigeons on the roof
Here’s another shot from yesterday’s commute stop. I like the mixed textures of the galvanized metal barn, the ground and the passing storm clouds in the frame–but, oddly enough, it’s the pigeons just doing what pigeons do that makes the shot for me.
