Because we’re playing Holiday gigs this week, I thought I’d give Death a nod on the blog for the winter solstice. Death is our memento mori and band mascot. He comes to all our gigs. A couple of years back he ran off for with a Funk band, but came back to us after a short while! What a loyal guy!

I didn’t have an image for today, but this evening’s beautiful sunset took care of that. This was the view from the street directly in front of my driveway.

Early this year I posted a couple of close-up images of the well winterized Job’s Tears plants we had growing in the yard. This year’s plants were especially nice, and catching them before the winter rains set in makes for cleaner looking seed pods and dry leaves. The pods are commonly used as beads.

The warmish, hazy days around the Bay Area continue to be uninspiring. The lack of wind has left a persistent, LA-like brownish haze over the bay. It’s the middle of December, and during the daylight hours, except for being ten degrees cooler in temperature, it seems like the middle of October. So… I’m going close-up, and using my iPhone more because it’s handy. This image is of the remnants of what was a much more elaborate flower arrangement in the kitchen area of our office.
