At an Irish seisiún

A friend of mine leads a local Irish seisiún. I don’t join in because they already have enough guitar players (I know all the seisiún players reading this are thinking, “what a guy!” ;^). Anyway, Maggie and I went last night to hang out, drink a few pints and enjoy the music. I brought my G11 and at some point took this close-up hoping that something would be in focus–low light plus an Irish jig means most everything is going to blur. That the drink is the sharpest thing in the shot is an irony I couldn’t let slip by.

Two shots today

During today’s commute home, I did “quick” pullout just before the toll plaza at the Golden Gate Bridge. Because of the dynamic look of the clouds I really wanted to get close to the bridge, but, unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen. It took me ten minutes to get out of the one way, jammed full plaza parking lot. These shots were taken down the road towards Crissy Field where there was abundant parking space and very few tourists.

A quick stop before the rain

Yesterday’s rain wasn’t the end of the early rains in the Bay Area. A new, bigger storm started rolling in late this afternoon. I could see that it was already raining to the north where I was headed so I stopped at Bayfront Park to grab some “dry” shots. I run in this park several days a week because it is conveniently located right across the road from where I work. Nice!

A view through the cables

It was a rainy commute home today. The beginning of October is a bit early, but the rain is nice because it’s been very dry for many months. I didn’t stop along the way because a wet freeway invariably makes for bad traffic–and today was no exception. Instead, I went to the well for this image. It was taken during the same commute stop that I got the wispy fog shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.
