Two trees revisited

I took this shot almost exactly a year ago and posted it with two others of the same hillside as a series in black and white. This one I always liked the best so a while back I decided to re-post it as a color image. While reprocessing the image I realized the cloudless, blue sky needed embellishment (probably why I chose black and white before) so I composited in a patch of sky from a different photo.

Death and the solstice

Because we’re playing Holiday gigs this week, I thought I’d give Death a nod on the blog for the winter solstice. Death is our memento mori and band mascot. He comes to all our gigs. A couple of years back he ran off for with a Funk band, but came back to us after a short while! What a loyal guy!

May you all have peace, happiness, and good luck on you as the light returns!

Marigold mania

Sometime you have to make it up as you go. Today was long, work was work, the commute was OK, but the light was drab… Who wants to take photographs in less than ideal conditions? I sometimes do, and today I did–at the homestead. But, I massively photo-manipulated the image of choice in order to make it more interesting. Why not?!? And yes, if you follow my blog, the tagetes lemmonii is, as is evidenced by this image, still blooming big time in December.
