Shots from my daily commute.

A quick stop before the rain

Yesterday’s rain wasn’t the end of the early rains in the Bay Area. A new, bigger storm started rolling in late this afternoon. I could see that it was already raining to the north where I was headed so I stopped at Bayfront Park to grab some “dry” shots. I run in this park several days a week because it is conveniently located right across the road from where I work. Nice!

A view through the cables

It was a rainy commute home today. The beginning of October is a bit early, but the rain is nice because it’s been very dry for many months. I didn’t stop along the way because a wet freeway invariably makes for bad traffic–and today was no exception. Instead, I went to the well for this image. It was taken during the same commute stop that I got the wispy fog shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Low tide on a hot day

Yesterday, it was HOT and there was a fire to the east producing lots of smoke that was blowing west towards the Golden Gate. Needless to say, it wasn’t pleasant to be near the bridge. Once I got a little farther north the air quality quickly improved so I stopped at the familiar Mill Valley exit to grab a few perspective shots.

Coming to port

Summer ends in the Bay Area and then it gets hot. It was a toasty commute home today so I just plowed through. This image is from yesterday’s 20 minute shoot up on the Marin Headlands just above the Golden Gate Bridge. I’ve started to develop a thing about shooting into bright light and it’s working for my aesthetic.
