Decks of cards marked “Lucky in Love” and “Two of a Kind” were the favors at my son’s wedding this past weekend. A friend put his deck to good use–and I couldn’t resist photographing the moment.

I recently got a copy of Lightroom 3 for a ridiculously cheap price. I know version 4 just came out, but having never used the program I figured I’d go with the bargain and see if I like it. So far so good! While cataloging images from our 2010 trans-Canada train trip, I ran across this image and decided to try some processing on it in Lightroom. I’d already installed Nik Silver Efex Pro (SEP 1, because SEP 2 doesn’t run on my computer?!?) so it was fairly easy to do the same black and white conversion steps I normally do with SEP 1 in Photoshop. Voilà!

I was recently out and about listening to and shooting photos of a band mate’s jazz ensemble. I liked this shot of the bass player and preferred it rendered in black and white.

Here’s a tightly framed view of some of our patio stuff next to Maggie’s office, “Cyberia.” I took the shot yesterday during my President’s Day holiday at the homestead photo walk with the G11.

This is a multi-use complex along the Petaluma River. The structure is quite large so I used the extreme wide angle end of my lens to get its full length plus the reflection into the frame. I corrected the wide angle distortion in post using the Photoshop “Lens Correction” filter and went with black and white because I’m on a kick.
