Manhole cover

After a gig in San Francisco back in July, I took some night shots of the street scene. A streetlight lit PG&E manhole cover on the street just outside the venue entrance caught my eye. I framed the shot tightly because the pavement around the cover’s edges was very grungy. The image looks kind of Mayan Modern.

Inside and outside

The accordion festival has a tent with a huge dance floor separate from the main stages. In the afternoons a traditional Polka band plays. It’s VERY popular with dancers–not all of whom are in the senior set. But, the older crew did seem to covet the seats when not dancing. Here’s a scene I captured while the band was taking a break.

Old school musician

Here’s another image from last weekend’s accordion festival. This guy is old school, but his look is très cool. No need for color–his vibe is all about black and white. I grabbed the shot while standing just outside a small booth where accordions were being sold.
